What is the Trail Running Series?

The trail running was created to promote and encourage trail running participation in events. It also offers a platform for social runners to challenge their friends and to encourage young and up-and-coming runners to participate as age category prizes are also awarded.

There will be a minimum of two trail running distances at all events, a short course (below 10kms) and a long course (over 10kms). U18s are awarded points for competing in the short course and over 18s need to compete in the long course in order to receive points.

As with most competitions, there has to be a set of rules to that all participants need to adhere to in order to receive points and to qualify for the Trail Running Quattro ROAG Series Powered by Momentum. Please take note of the rules that can be found further down the page under Trail Running Series Rules.

Prizes & Prize Money: 

Prizes & Prize money will be awarded to the top 3 Overall Male & Female series winners in both the long course & short course (only u18s are eligible to receive points in the log and prizes at the end of the series for the short course).

Prizes & prize money is awarded to the top 3 male & female winners in their respective age category. However, please ensure you are competing in the correct distance/race for your age category otherwise you will not receive points and will not be eligible for prizes.

A cash prize of R10 000 will be awarded to the overall male & female winners of the Quattro ROAG Series Powered by Momentum Trail Running Series for the long course.

The prizes & prize money will be awarded at the end of the series at the Quattro ROAG Series Awards Dinner. Winners need to be present at the Awards Dinner to receive their prizes otherwise the prizes/prize money will be forfeited.

Trail Running Series Rules

  • Runners are required to take part and finish in at least six out of the ten events and obtain points in the series to be in contention for any prizes.
  • Runners must take part in the correct distance for each age category to earn points toward the final log positions.
  • The overall Trail Run prize is only for runners who are running in the correct distance for their age category. U18s need to compete in the short course while over 18s need to compete in the long course.
  • Overall points are calculated for male and female riders/runners separately (in other words the top 50 males and top 50 females are awarded points at each race).
  • Prize Winners need to be present at the ROAG Series Awards Dinner in order for them to be awarded their prize/s and/prize money.
  • A Grand Prix Points System will decide the category winners with the top 50 riders /runners overall and in each age category being awarded points. At the end of the series, the riders/runners with the most points from their best six results overall and in each age category will be used to decide finishing positions in each of the respective categories.
  • Only your top six results will count towards your overall points. However, in the event of a tie at the end of the series, the seventh-best result will be used as a tiebreaker; if results are still equal, then an eighth will be included; until the tie is broken.
